Bridging the Gap
Salvation through Jesus Christ is the only way to bridge the gap between man and God.
-
Everyone Sins.*
- All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)
- Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins (Ecclesiastes 7:20)
- If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us (1 John 1:8)
God is Holy and Just.
- You are too just to tolerate evil; you are unable to condone wrongdoing (Habakkuk 1:13a)
Sin separates us from God.
- But your sinful acts have alienated you from your God; your sins have caused him to reject you and not listen to your prayers (Isaiah 59:2)
Sin leads to death.
- For the wages of sin is death…(Romans 6:23)
- The desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death (James 1:15)
*Sin is transgression of the law of God and rebellion against God. Simply put, sin is choosing your wants instead of the will of God and rebelling against Him.
-
God became human in the Person of Jesus Christ.
- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)
- And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
Jesus lived a sinless life.
- For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
- For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4:15)
- You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. (1 John 3:5)
Jesus was the sacrifice for our sin.
- For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3)
- He has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him (Colossians 1:22)
- And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. (Hebrews 10:10)
- In him we have redemption through his blood (Ephesians 1:7)
Jesus’ death on the cross paid for the sins of the world.
- He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. (1 Peter 2:24)
- He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. (1 John 2:2)
Jesus’ resurrection showed his sacrifice was sufficient.
- That he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:4)
- Just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. (Romans 6:4)
- We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives for God. (Romans 6:9-10)
-
No one is righteous.
- You who are of purer eyes than to see evil and cannot look at wrong, why do you idly look at traitors and remain silent when the wicked swallows up the man more righteous than he? (Habakkuk 1:13)
- there is no one righteous, not even one. (Rom. 3:9-10).
Salvation is a Gift from God.
- For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not of works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
We are justified by God’s Grace.
- he saved us, not by works of righteousness that we have done but on the basis of his mercy, through the washing of the new birth and the renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us in full measure through Jesus Christ our Savior. And so, since we have been justified by his grace, we become heirs with the confident expectation of eternal life. (Titus 3:5-7)
Our Faith is Credited as Righteousness.
- What then shall we say that Abraham, our ancestor according to the flesh, has discovered regarding this matter? For if Abraham was declared righteous by the works of the law, he has something to boast about (but not before God). For what does the scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” Now to the one who works, his pay is not credited due to grace but due to obligation. But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous, his faith is credited as righteousness. (Romans 4:1-5)
-
God Loves Us.
- But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
God Made a Way for Us.
- God made the one who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we would become the right-eousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
Jesus Died For Us.
- He was given over because of our transgressions and was raised for the sake of our justification. (Romans 4:25)
- Because Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, to bring you to God, by being put to death in the flesh but by being made alive in the spirit. (1 Peter 3:18)
Jesus Arose from the Dead for Us.
- who was appointed the Son-of-God-in-power according to the Holy Spirit by the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 1:4)
-
We Believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord.
- And they said “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved (Acts 16:31)
- Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)
- But to all who have received him--those who believe in his name--he has given the right to become God's children (John 1:12)
- For this is the way God loved the world: he gave his one and only Son that everyone who believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world should be saved through him. The one who believes in Him is not condemned. The one who does not believe has been condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God. (John 3:16-18)
- And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)
- Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
- And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. The one who has the Son has this eternal life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have this eternal life. (1 John 5:11-12)
-
If you are ready to turn from your sinful nature and follow God’s plan for salvation, acknowledge Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Romans 10:9-11 states, “because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and thus has righteousness and with the mouth one confesses and thus has salvation. For the scripture says, ‘Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” and Romans 10:13 says, “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection provides victory over sin and bridges the gap between you and God. Jesus’ sacrifice allows you to have a personal relationship with Him and have eternal life. To receive God's gift of salvation, simply pray in your own words acknowledging that you are a sinner, that you trust in Jesus as the sacrifice and payment for your sins, and that your desire is to put your faith in Him.
